What's Important

I've been so absorbed with settling in, hanging out with the DOD, cooking up sh*t in my new kitchen and hanging with my Hunny that I ain't wrote sh*t. Not to mention my azz been on Face Book and can't seem stay off You Tube *chuckle*. I haven't been watching t.v. (we don't have cable now) and I haven't really been on the phone (well yes I have).

I think I'm really beginning to enjoy putting my family first. Like I don't mind being interrupted because one of the DOD wants me to fill up their water cup. Or that I can't bathe in the day time because I'm busy whipping up yummy waffles for the girls to eat. Or that I'm spending all day washing and combing out hair (on 4 girls who DO NOT like anything having to do with water and combs *chuckle*). I realize now that my life is not my own. Which was part of my frustration because I felt like I didn't have enough time to do what I wanted to do. But I've realized recently it really ain't about me. If that were the case, then I should not have decided to procreate and have children. You have to make certain sacrifices when you bring life into the world. Life is very difficult when you decide to do something and then complain while your doing it.

Once I realized that whatever I think I must do NOW or whatever I felt like I HAD to get done really wasn't that important. It wasn't more important then being responsible for shaping young minds. That's a big job. And it's a job that I wasn't taking seriously enough. I was too worried about what I needed. Once I realized that if I relaxed and let go of my illusions of all these rules I imposed on myself - I felt better and realized that in turning my attention more towards my children, I was able to help myself as well.

The DOD are really easy. They want the simplest of things. They want their oatmeal cooked in the morning or a simple bowl of cereal and milk. They want hugs and kisses when they hurt. They want to see me smile and be happy. They want to have mommy time and sit in my lap while they read to ME. They want to draw (sometimes on the walls) and sing songs and dance. They want to write and learn about new and exciting things. And when they ask, they want to be sure their needs are going to be met. It's so simple. It's not like giving up on what you need as a person. It's just realizing that it's NOT about you! It's not. I've realized that in this last month. It's helped me feel less overwhelmed and stressed with dealing with 4 personality types all day, day in and day out.

I realize that whatever I need to do or whatever needs to get done, will be there. There is no rush. Nothing is more important than my children. Nothing I'm doing is more important than them.

On that note. It's time for the DOD to potty, brush teeth and get tucked into bed. Hopefully I'll be able to take a bath but if not, there's always tomorrow.

That whole thing made me smile. Now all we have to do is REMEMBER the lesson! hahahaha.

They are a blessing, though, huh?

You are so very inspiring- definitely given me great food for thought about how I spend my time with my own children. I just want to know the secret for how you get all of their heads combed and looking so cute without any crying. I tried to help a friend with her daughter's head full of hair and I simply could not take her tears(she cries no matter how incredibly gentle her mother is) so I gave up!

That You Tube can be addictive, I know! LOL!

I think the other thing is that as your girls have gotten a little older, it's a bit easier, too. I know that's the case for me and my 2 girls. At 4 and 6, they are *so* easy!! I love this age!
